The talented staff of the City's Beautification Division helps keep the City beautiful and blooming all year round. Most plants are propagated in the City's green houses. The task of installing and maintaining landscapes on all City

properties, including parks and medians, keeps this division busy all year long.

The division also installs and maintains the irrigation systems to keep the landscapes visually appealing. As an added water conservation measure, this division equips existing irrigation systems with automatic rain sensing devices thereby eliminating irrigation when it rains. This is a working example of the City's commitment to maximizing the efficiency of our water resources.

At city owned sports and athletic fields division staff ensure that trees and grass are p roperly trimmed and maintained. During special occasions and certain holidays, staff members also decorate 19th Avenue and 163rd Street with flags and other banners.
